Today is another bad news day for our American Culture. Liberal revisionists are winning battles on the front lines of the war on American culture.

Today in Tampa, the county seat of Hillsborough County, Florida, county commissioners voted 4 – 2 to move a memorial erected near the steps of courthouse in 1911 by the United Daughters for the Confederacy. One vote was not cast because commissioner Crist was absent. During the last vote on this issue, Crist voted to keep the memorial.

Last month, 6/21/2017 this same issue was up for a vote by the commission. It received a 4 – 3 votes to keep the monument where it has stood since 1911. Commissioner Miller indicated that he would not let this issue go however. He brought it up again this month. In the meantime protesters have been making their position known.

This seems to be the trend across the country as Confederate Memorials, Crosses, and other such monuments are being torn down. A futile effort to appease a minority opinion that they should be removed.

I submit to you that these decisions should be voted on by the people at large. It is the people’s money that has been spent on these memorials, and, the people’s money that will be spent to remove them.

Government bodies, and the politicians that hold the seats in these bodies, are required to do the people’s bidding. Not pander to their own political interests, and, whatever fad, or trend, that is most likely to win them votes.

Sadly there is a major attempt to rewrite our history. Whether you agree with the sentiments expressed by these monuments or not, they are the page markers of our history as a nation.

Removing them only allows those pages to be removed from the book. What better way to show how far we have come, than to be able to see where we have been.

Racism should not be celebrated, obviously. It is a reprehensible concept and practice. But to not remember our history is a path to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Modern Racism

I suggest to you now that many of the people involved in protesting things like these monuments are only engaging in a more modern form of the same disease. Racism.

If we as a nation are to get beyond the sins of our forefathers we must have a clear, undiluted, look at our history. No one alive today took part in the civil war.

There are more important and timely issues that our governments should be concerned with. We should reject these attempts to keep the divisions of the past alive. No good can come of it.

As a point of reference, there were black soldiers in the confederacy, and black slave owners at the time of the Civil War. While slave ownership was one reason for the Civil War, it wasn’t the only issue.

My second point here is that these monuments were not erected to glorify slavery. They were erected to remember those that fought and died in what is arguably the most brutal conflict that has occurred within the boundaries of the United States.

Their service, to their respective governments, was honorable and should not be tainted by the ignorance of those that owe their life and freedoms to these brave men.

Tom Skarritt spoke at the meeting today, and has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for the relocation of the monument to the Brandon Family Cemetery.

I encourage you, if you are able, to help protect our history by contributing to this fund. Monies will be used for the relocation, post relocation inspection, and ongoing maintenance of this memorial.

What a world we live in today! On one hand, we have the wonders of technology that make our everyday lives much easier, and, put information on just about any topic in the palm of our hands!

On the other hand, this same technology, often brings us offensive and disgusting images that would be better left unseen. Unfortunately, these things pop up in my various feeds on social media, and once viewed, cannot be unseen.

I’m happy that here in the United States we have the right to express ourselves in a variety of ways. Our Freedom of Speech as provided by the First Amendment to the Constitution allows each of us the opportunity to freely and openly say, or do, a myriad of things that would be treated as a harsh offense against the government in other countries.

But, just because we CAN do a thing, does not mean that we SHOULD do that thing. Here’s a case in point.

A young woman from Philadelphia, Pa. Miss Emily Lance, thought that this past 4th of July, our nation’s 241st birthday, would be the perfect time for her to express her derision for the country that has provided her with life and liberty, by expressing her urine on our flag as it lay in her toilet. Disgusting.

Certainly she has the right to her opinion. Which by the way, I feel is vile, ignorant, disgusting, disturbing, and shows that she has no respect for herself, or anyone else. But, the rest of us also have the right to believe she should be treated with the same disdain that she has for our flag.

I generally don’t like to re post this kind of thing because I don’t want to contribute to any fame idiots like these might get from their vile and insulting actions. In this case however, I feel the need to share as much as I can about this moron.

It is important that we show our disgust with people who perform these kinds of things. Sadly, it is pretty clear that our opinion of her actions are of little regard to her. Since she can’t respect herself, she may never be able to respect others, or our flag.

But, perhaps we might help just one person learn that there are better ways to express yourself, and that you don’t have to prove yourself to be a vile, disgusting, moron, to have an opinion. If you really want to make a difference, there are a million better ways to do it. Posting things like this will only harden the resolve of people who disagree with your perspective.

It has only reinforced my position that people that do these things do not deserve the rights and protections afforded them. Nor do they deserve the peace that has been paid for with the blood of thousands that have died defending that very flag.

The hate and vitriol expressed by the left for all things patriotic has reached a point I never thought I would see. I suggest to the left that you must learn to tone down your hate, or, you will only drive more civilized people away from your cause.

To Emily Lance, the civilized world is waiting for you to grow out of your immaturity. We hope that you will learn to control your animal behaviors and perhaps offer some contribution of value to the society that you show so much disdain for. Until then however, we will be happy to regard you as just another vile, disgusting, moron.

Emily, if your life here is so terrible that you have to desecrate the flag, perhaps you would be happier elsewhere. I’m sure there are plenty of people here that would help you pack!

Today, July 4, 2017, We celebrate our nation’s 241st birthday. The experiment in democracy lives on! Well past what many people of the time thought would be the case. You see there had been other republics, most failed, or were failing. The very idea that the people could be trusted to run their own government was a radical concept.

I salute the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence for their wisdom, and their courage. What gall it must have taken to sign such a letter to the King of England. Arguably the most powerful person in the world, at the time.

In 1776, the original 13 colonies were still ruled by the King of England. The Declaration of Independence was a harsh message to the king, and officially put him on notice that the new world would no longer be subjugated.

If you haven’t read the Declaration of Independence in a while, I hope you will take a few minutes to read it and put our holiday celebrations into perspective. Declaration of Independence.

Today our democratic republic is rife with division. It seems that there is very little, upon which we all can agree. Even having a sense of patriotism, and pride in our country, is frowned on by many these days. This turns my stomach.

It is obvious that there are those that want to tear down our nation. It is most disheartening, that many of them are citizens of these great United States. A cancer within, intent to kill the still living experiment in democracy started 241 years ago.

We can all admit that we as a nation, still face challenges. But, we must also admit, that the United States Of America has consistently offered more opportunity, for anyone willing work for it, than any other nation on earth. This was true 241 years ago, and, it is still true today.

No other nation in the world’s history has done more in the cause of liberty, self governance, and freedom from oppression. The principles in our Declaration of Independence are sought out by all the people of the world.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

“That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,”

These may be some of the finest ideals ever written. No government before was founded on such principles.

This year as you are enjoying the barbeque with the family, or the fireworks with friends, remember, as a nation, we have so much to be proud of! The world is a better place because of the United States of America! Stand proud! Fly the flag!

Liberals MisLabeled They are Fascists!

We have a huge problem with our language these days. The politically correct crowd have turned our language completely upside down. We need to get back to reality! Call a spade a spade.
