United We Stand Divided We Fall

A message that has been said a thousand times. Even school children are familiar with the phrase. But, for some reason, perhaps because of its simplicity, the true meaning and purpose seems to elude us. In these trying times it feels important to remind ourselves that United We Stand Divided We Fall.

Pastor Mark Burns said bringing people in the country together means focusing on the colors that unite us, not divide us, and has “to start first with the leaders.”

United We Stand Divided We Fall

Perhaps the biggest problem we have in our nation today is the divisive nature of our self centered culture. Me, me, me, it’s all about me. Or, it’s all about us. “Us” being some subset of the whole.

Divided by race, religion, or some other useless demographic. Many people today are so self centered that they simply cannot spare even the tiniest amount of empathy for people around them.

People become blinded by the victim mentality.  They refuse to take responsibility for their own actions or lack thereof. Blaming anyone and everyone they can, for whatever they perceive as wrongs against them.

Theirs is the only cause that matters. If you don’t think or believe as they do, your opinion or perspective is irrelevant. And even worse, if you express an opposing view you will be castigated, minimized and called a racist or a phobe of one kind or another in an attempt to make you and your opinion invalid.

United We Stand Divided We Fall – The President

Unfortunately, even our leaders are stuck in this mindset. I believe that people in the public eye have an opportunity to try to improve our situation as a whole. They have the potential to uplift everyone and bring us all together.

A good leader can take people from diverse backgrounds and show them how they can work together for a cause greater than themselves. This must be done with laws that are created through our established process and enforced equally. Not, like the president likes to do, with the stroke of a pen or some administrative rule that forces compliance on a tenuous issue.

Many people thought that Obama was just such a leader. He talked a good game. In the end he has given us platitudes and division. He has set the state of race relations back by decades. There is more fear, loathing, and mistrust than I have seen in my lifetime.

He has supported the illegal actions and terroristic attitudes and agendas of those that strive to drive an even deeper wedge between us.

When our own president divides us by race, supports and applauds racist groups, he is only pouring salt in old wounds. Perpetuating hate.

Reasonable, thoughtful people of all races and backgrounds are getting sick and tired of the hate mongers driving a wedge between us.

See my article about our divider in chief.

United We Stand Divided We Fall – Patriots Needed!

As Pastor Mark Burns said we need to focus on the colors that bring us together and start with our leaders!

For me that means that we need to make sure that our leaders are patriots!

United we stand divided we fall - Americanflag2
These are the colors that bring us together!

In many circles it has become acceptable, even applauded, to disgrace our flag, our national anthem, and our constitution. We cannot let this continue!

Those that have no respect for the privilege of being a citizen of the United States are mostly spoiled brats that have no idea of what it would be like to not have the privilege they have.

Here is a most recent case in point.

This particular spoiled brat, crying about oppression of people of color, is making close to $20 Million a year.  Hmm.. How many of you are making $20 Million a year?  That’s gotta be tough.

I have just viewed a video of him saying that cosmetologists are better educated and trained than our police forces.

He is obviously using his fame and position to support the racist agenda of Black Lives Matter and the like. He should be standing proud with his hand over his heart, thankful for the great opportunity this country has afforded him!

United We Stand Divided We Fall – Show Appreciation

Certainly we still face many challenges in this country. And we always will. That is part of living and growing.

Instead of disrespecting the flag and our national anthem, show some appreciation! Then, take your fortune and fame and create some positive action to help move the dialogue forward.

BLM has no credibility because of their violent actions and divisive rhetoric. They routinely abuse the rights of others in an attempt to get their point across.

No other place on earth offers the opportunity to every individual the United States does. You can literally be or do whatever you want to do in this country.

  1. So true! You look at some other countries such as Mexico in some areas…and if you fall in a pothole, it’s your fault. Not the government’s or the city’s fault. You can’t sue anyone. So many people today have the victim mentality and the me me me. It’s sad we can’t go back to being plain ole Americans and helping each other.

    1. Greetings Matt’s Mom!

Welcome back to TheCivilVoice.com, and thank you for your comment regarding “United We Stand Divided We Fall.”

We must be just Americans! Any other added descriptor is counter productive. How can we get everyone to realize this?

We should all stand tall on the principle that “all men are created equal.”

Thank you for visiting! I hope to chat with you again soon!

  2. Hi Tom. A thought provoking website for sure! (therande”‘s a video that’s no longer available by the way). I’m not very political, except during elections, but I like to see ppl voice their opinions and express their freedom of speech. There’s a lot of ppl out there that feel the way you do and a lot of ppl who don’t….that’s the beauty of being an American and living in America! I’ve always hated being unwillingly “assigned” a color.

I’m 55, and I’ve grown up being colored, negro, black, and African American. I just want to be seen and recognized as an “American”. People are so hung up on color, they fail to realize very few “americans” are 100%! (DNA wise) I know my ancestors are made up of white, American indian, and European.

Anyway, I like your site and how it’s put together. Continued success Tom!

    1. Hi Nedra!
Thank you very much for visiting TheCivilVoice.Com and for your comment regarding “United We Stand Divided We Fall.”

We are so fortunate in this country to be able to speak our mind! I am very saddened by what I see today. The efforts by groups and institutions to squelch our freedom of speech when you might speak other than the “party” line. A current example is what happened this week at Berkeley. A conservative pundit had been invited and scheduled to talk to the students there. There were threats of violence, and this person was not allowed to speak. A conservative student organization is who invited Ann Coulter to speak, but because of “liberal fascism,” her opportunity to speak was denied. Berkeley was once thought to be a bastion of freedom. What has happened. Ann wouldn’t have been promoting violence or sedition. Perhaps that is why she was denied.

I agree with you that “people are so hung up on color,” it is a shame. How in our world today can ignorance be so prevalent?

Thanks again for visiting and commenting! I hope to talk to you again soon!
